Can you believe want to legislate speech that is offensive? Isn’t that just a sign of big government? Shouldn’t we be encouraging the free market place of ideas?
To be honest, as an educator, my beliefs, religious and political, do influence the way I present material and look at the world. However, I don’t agree it should be an open matter. I do not teach my faith or my political persuasion. I teach in religious studies, so I should be teaching the study of religion. I don’t agree at all with what these faculty members are doing, but the response is so disproportionate and hypocritical that I had to point it out to people.
