Thanks to Rachel over at Velveteen Rabbi, I was made aware of Blog Day 2005. (BTW, Rachel, thanks for the constant care and feeding of this blog.) Rachel, Demi, and Jake were some of the first non-Muslim blogs I added to my aggregator (NetNewsWire Lite), and got me to start up – the desperately needing to be updated – ahl al-kitāb list on the sidebar. It’s been such a long time since I read Salman Pax’s blog. I recently returned to it and found a great write-up by him about the formal split between Shi’ahs and other Muslims. The photos are new for me and he’s really got an eye for it.

About time MERIP got a blog. Some nice stuff brewing. hawgblawg: Robin Wright on Arab/Islamic Hip-Hop. Merip has a brand new blog, launched today. I intend to contribute posts on a regular basis–but I will not be abandoning hawgblawg by any means.
