Having just come from a conference in Cairo, I can agree that everyone will want to give you directions, regardless of what they know, and everyone says “insha’allah” every second word. Swell. I head the other way when the Tablighi Jamaat is involved. I’m scheduled to return to Delhi in January, and I plan to visit the Nizamuddin area this time. As you know, Nizamuddin is an important place for Sufism in India. The Tablighi occupy a big, concrete building in the same area.

Are they actually going to follow through?
I don’t know how I missed the Tabligh reference! That’s what I get for reading it at 2AM. I agree, they are bad news, but I wonder if the center will be big enough for all orgs to get a space. If it is, and not it’s not just the Tabligh, it might be interesting to see what comes of it. Nothing brings a little friction like living together.
