Read Jeff Sharlet. His take on “facts” in this administration simply states the obvious. It’s the religious that gets to you.

Newsday on America to Zanzibar
Here is a Newsday article on the exhibit America to Zanzibar: Muslim Cultures Near and Far, at The Children’s Museum of Manhattan, for which I was the lead academic advisor. It’s a good chance to shout out my friends from high school. “Our goal is to have children deal with differences in a healthy, positive way and encourage them to be inquisitive while exploring the world instead of running away from its differences,” Rashid said, an experience not so different from his years growing up in Elmont.
Conferences, Conferences
As you all know, next weekend is the Progressive Faith Blog Con. I’ll be there, and I hope to you meet you there as well. This weekend, I’m in Copenhagen for a conference called Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow (although they don’t have a website today). The press release is here. No outlets for laptops, so no live blogging, but I’ll try to put summary of the sessions and my thoughts on them as I can. Technorati Tags: MLT, progfaithblogcon

You can find a lot more information on the Talk to Action website.
I’m always struck by the “family resemblances” between fundamentalisms, here Christian Reconstructionism and our own, benighted jihadism.
