Peaceful Families Project Benefit/Hijabi Monologues Performance – DC Area

Good group, good material. Please try to support.

I’m writing to ask you for your personal support in getting the word out about our upcoming Peaceful Families Project benefit. It’s right around the corner on May 14th at GMU, with a performance by the Hijabi Monologues, and we’ve had such low registration thus far that I’m really worried about the success of the event.
Though I’m not typically one to ask for favors, I, and many Muslim leaders, have devoted our blood, sweat & tears (sorry to be so graphic 😉 to prevent and address domestic violence among Muslim families and communities – thereby fostering peaceful homes. Our workshops for Muslim leaders and communities, cultural sensitivity trainings for professionals, technical assistance, and resources have educated thousands throughout the U.S. – and some as far as South Africa. We end up having to turn away over half of the requests we receive for trainings by Muslim leaders/communities around the country, and internationally, due to insufficient funding.

I’m sure there are many great charities that you support, but I would really appreciate any and all support you can give. Attending the benefit and encouraging your significant network to buy tickets would be a huge help, via email, FB, and Twitter. On FB, in addition to posting on your wall, it would be wonderful if you would directly invite your network of friends through our event page.

Tickets are just $35 or $20 for students with ID. As the campus won’t allow on-site ticket sales, we would need to sell out before the event. If you cannot make it, please consider making a donation. A $5 monthly donation would be greatly appreciated. We are also looking for sponsors for the event, so if you or someone you know may be interested, I’m including details on sponsorship below.

If you can put the word out – here are some links to tweet, post on facebook and/or send to your networks in DC/VA/MD or people who are in the DV space.
