It’s amazing what turns up
I went searching for an article entitled “Counterterrorism at Miami Airport” by Ali Mazrui, and found it at Swahili On-line (asante sana). It was attached to an article about Islam in East Africa. Both are worth a read. The link is here. I like Dr. Mazrui’s writings quite a bit because he treats Islam as part of the African cultural landscape, rather than something foreign that can be separated out and potentially removed.
I’m an Islamo-?
I’m actually an islamoyankee (a Muslim American, of the Northeast, blue-neck, sushi-eating variety). The name actually comes from a description of the two things the French fear the most – Muslims and Americans. I’ve repurposed it. However, it seems Muslims are no longer islamofascists. We are now islamonazis and islamocancers. Michael Savage can rest easy that I actually agree with him. Every time I see a white man in a hood, I think Klansmen. Conferences, Conferences
As you all know, next weekend is the Progressive Faith Blog Con. I’ll be there, and I hope to you meet you there as well. This weekend, I’m in Copenhagen for a conference called Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow (although they don’t have a website today). The press release is here.
