I added Father Jake to the Ahl al-Kitab list to get a sense of some of the thoughts circulating in on-line Christian communities. I’ve since discovered he’s an incredibly sensitive commentator on the Iraq situation, as witnessed by this post. What’s wrong with CNN? [updated]
I have problems with CNN’s news coverage, but occasionally they do some things that really bother me. On American Morning, there was a story (between 9:50 AM and 10:00 AM) about the US Postal Service pulling it’s sponsorship of Lance Armstrong because an audit revealed they weren’t getting enough of a return on the investment. Jews, Muslims, Christians Agree on Gaza-Israel Crisis This statement by leaders of the three Abrahamic communities in Boston was issued yesterday and was published in the Boston Globe by a columnist who writes on religion. Its thoughtfulness and the breadth and stature of its signers are extraordinary – representing the best version of our religious traditions and communities. If in your own community, religious leaders are well on the way to adopting your own statement on the Gaza-Israel war and publicizing it, wonderful! — If however you don’t have such a statement ready, the existence of this one could be…
Even the Dutch Talking Smack Now
So let’s see, we have the guts to torture these people, shown them our power and how “strong” we are, but we are too weak to have them in our country. TPM Reader BB, a “proud citizen of the Netherlands,” says it’s time the U.S. man up and stop NIMBYing the Gitmo detainees: … Let’s take those war criminals (of which dozens have been tried and sentenced) from the Balkan conflict as an example. Here is a group that still has lots of support (Serbs primarily) all across Europe. They are in cells in the Hague which is driving distance…
