Robert Reich has an interesting column in the American Prospect about four more years of a Bush presidency. I think he’s being a bit alarmist, but at the same time I don’t think he’s exaggerating. I wonder if this is one of those articles that will be read by Bush supporters as a promise of what Bush will deliver, so they go out and vote for him.

Sadness
We are truly sad at the death of Nick Berg. He was a non-combatant, a secured prisoner, and was killed in the most horrendous way. Our sympathies to his family. Unfortuantely, I believe he would have been killed regardless of whether the details of Abu Ghuraib had come out or not; whether Abu Ghuraib happened or not. The viciousness evident in the video was looking for an excuse to be let loose. Once more, I have to say, these people are animals. The ideology of Islam as hatred has become so embedded in their psyche that they murmur platitudes to…
AQ brought to justice!
I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking I got lied to last night. Overall I think Kerry did a good job, not only staying on message, but delivering that message a few different ways. I liked that he got in outsourcing – referring to the capture of Osama bin Laden – without talking about outsourcing. There were times where I felt his point could have been more effective if he didn’t use the full time, but in all it was a good show. Particularly favorite part was when Kerry told the de Gaulle story about the word of an…
Torturing America
Via Juan Cole, it seems that we’ve been holding innocent people and torturing them for fun. CNN is reporting from a different source that torture is being carried out by us. I say “we” because we are all complicit in this act. As Americans we should be holding ourselves to a higher standard, and demand that our representatives hold themselves to an even higher standard than that. Everywhere we turn we see how deep the wrong-doing done in our name has spread. We deny the truth, just as our representatives do. Every time one of these people is flogged, our…
