I’m trying really hard not be political, but darn it, it seems that we as Americans are most threatened whenever the current administration opens its mouth. Iraq has yellow-cake, WMD (oddly enough, it’s meant as non-conventional weapons, not necessarily nuclear which is why it can different from the yellow-cake claim), Al-Qaeda is in bed with every Muslim in the world, etc., etc., etc.. The following op-ed by Brooks in today’s NYTimes gives some interesting perspective on past views in America about combatting terrorism. Seems to make a convincing case that the dumbing down of American politics continues on.

i have read the koran and have studied the religion of Islam for the last year.
I am glad to see an article like this for muslims to see.
i have nothing but respect for the religion of Islam and for all Muslims that really follow their religion.
i could on forever on my thoughts on Islam but i wont.
The first presidency of the Mormon church has stated that we believe that Muhammed was given a portion of God’s light and was inspired to do a lot of what he did.
