The basic response is the same as it was in the original article, the Ismailis aren’t Muslim because the majority of [unnamed] scholars hold that that they aren’t because of various [unnamed] beliefs and practices…. Important point, the Ismailis were recognized as the Caliphs of the Muslim community by a large segment of the ummah in the 10th and 11th centuries when the Fatimid Empire held sway.

A Self-Reflexive Moment
We started this blog in October of 2003 (I really should have marked the date), so we have now completed one year on the web…. The last few months, we have become focused on the Presidential election, and while we are not a strictly political blog, we will need to re-center once the President is announced (date TBA).
OBL as statesman
My once criticism is that the author talks about how Hezbollah, PLO, the IRA developed political wings. However, all also provided social services, which is what gave their political ideology cachet amongst the people they were attempting to represent.
